WPP generation in Russia in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 78.9%

The system operator of the Unified Energy System (SO UES JSC) published a monthly report on the actual operation of CSA RES facilities in March 2022.

According to the SO UES report, the installed capacity of WPPs, certified and operating on the wholesale energy market of Russia, is 1937.7 MW. Of these, 85.4 MW belong to the IPS of the Middle Volga (Ulyanovsk region), and 1852.3 MW – to the IPS of the South (Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions, Stavropol Territory, as well as the republics of Kalmykia and Adygea).

The generation of wind farms in March 2022 amounted to 532.3 million kWh, which is 53.8% more than in March 2021. Since the beginning of the year, the generation of wind farms has increased by 78.9% compared to the 1st quarter of last year and amounted to 1586.3 million kWh.

It is noteworthy that in March, at the WPP in the Astrakhan energy system (IPS of the South), the commands of the SO dispatcher were given to limit the output of power to the network. The maximum limitation was 26 MW. This is the first time that power output has been restricted since the beginning of 2022.

The Rostov region remains the leader in wind energy generation in Russia: 169,919 thousand kWh of energy was generated in March and 556,709 kWh of energy in total for the 1st quarter of this year, which is more than 35% of the generation of wind farms in Russia for the specified period.
