The issues of the current state and trends of the most dynamically developing area of energy – energy based on the use of renewable sources are considered. It is shown that the driving forces forcing states to develop renewable energy sources is the need to ensure resource security, energy and environmental security. The world experience of legislative work to support the development of RES, as well as the legislative framework in the field of RES, adopted in Russia recently, is analyzed in detail.
The most modern technical schemes, designs and installations for the use of certain types of renewable energy, methods for determining their parameters are given. To create reliable energy supply systems, a classification of types and principles of RES energy storage, including hydraulic ones, are given. The technique of combined use of RES energy for autonomous power supply systems is presented. Modern methods and possibilities of operation and control of wind power plants in network and distributed generation are presented.
